MATARRANYA
This area, which lies on Matarranya's river bank, is situated next to the regions of Tarragona and Castelló.
The most outstanding characteristic in the area is its extraordinary settings. Furthermore the Mediterranean influence makes Matarranya a very peculiar region both for its catalan speaking inhabitants and for the impressive mountains full of lovely landscapes and with great value in fauna and flora (Ports de Beseit).
Vall-de-roures is the administrative centre of the area although Calaceit is the cultural one.
The main villages in Matarranya are the following:
Arenys de Lledó, Beseit, Calaceit, Queretes, Fórnols, la Freixneda, Fondespatla, Lledó, Massalió, Montroig, Pena-roja de Tastavins, la Portellada, Ràfels, Torredarques, la Torre del Comte, Valldeltormo, Vall-de-roures i Valljunquera.
